The inline-six cylinder powerplant will replace the previous top model all wheel drive, same phase all-wheel-steering layout with a rear wheel drive, two wheel steering, variable rack and pinion type power steering design. The twin-turbocharged setup, previously used on all top-model versions, was disregarded for single turbocharged design. Mitsubishi indictated that the reasoning for this is the implentation is the introduction of the new adjustable timing advance engine parameter(ATAEP) function which was introduced in their prototype OBDIII.5 hybrid technology engine control system, which may or may not be released on the final version of the production vehicle.

ATAEP's main function is to increase throttle response as the vehicle is "building boost" for the massive single turbo. Sport compact enthusiasts refer to this as "turbocharger lag". This so-called "lag" will be almost entirely eliminated by this new timing advance technology, therefore keeping this monster street-machine fully streetable; however, when going wide open throttle is when this beast will really shine.

With an estimated 0-60MPH time of between 5.0-6.3 seconds, and a (theoretical) top speed of over 197 MPH, this machine in production is designed to directly compete with the Nissan Skyline (commonly referred to as Japan's current 'supercar') and Toyota's upcoming all-new Supra.........
