"3SX T4 995 AWHP Uncorrected on 3.0L and a visit to the track
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We wanted to see how far we could push the 3.0L so we got her on the dyno and started pushing it.
We were able to squeeze out 995.1 AWHP 759.9 AWTQ Uncorrected @ 35psi peak and 75 wet shot
This was throwing as much timing as I felt she could take and started getting a little more noisy than I am comfortable with. I lean towards higher boost with lower timing instead of lower boost and higher timing for some reason. It's how I started tuning years ago and kinda stuck with it. So my boost numbers always seem higher than others, but my timing is very conservative.
Luckily we hit a warm spell in NC, it was 81F yesterday at the track, soooo
Off to the track to see what this thing can do.
We had still been bouncing off the line and into 2nd. As we have all season. Actually picking the rear tires off the ground. We played with some suspension setup this go around. We lightened up the rear springs, still heavier than stock but lighter than we had been using. And readjusted the shocks all around.
Slips are in trailer, will get them later. May make a vid, it may be entertaining.
Run 1
27psi-just to save engine parts and test out launching on new suspension setup
No Bounce! Good news so far.
Lame launch and I rest my foot on clutch pedal while in 2nd which activated 2 step. I need to stop doing that.
60-1.57
1/4-9.666
1/4-149.x
Run 2
Time to step it up. Launch harder and see if the suspension bounce is gone.
Boom, Passenger side rear axle snaps on launch.
Replace it with used one we bring with us.
Run 3
Same launch and 30psi
60-1.488
1/4-9.31
1/4-153.x
Little better. Coulda done better 60' and did lift to shift so not too shabby.
Time to throw it all at the track and see what sticks.
35psi and hard launch.
Run 4
Launch feels good...BOOM. Halfway thru 1st Driver's rear axle snaps.
Yep we bring a set so back to the pit and replace driver side.
Run 5
Again, launch feels strong...BOOM halfway thru first Passenger side rear axle snaps again.
Now we are all out of axles. Time to go home.
I can tell you this, It's been a fantastic year, and I have had a blast. These motors have by far done more than I could ever hoped for. Good stuff!"
